We are delighted to have been named the Best Coffee Roaster at the European Coffee Awards.
The event, hosted by Allegra Group, saw Matthew Algie shortlisted in two categories: Best Coffee Roaster & Most Ethical Brand. Pitted against some tough competition, Mattthew Algie came out on top in the former category.
Jill Wotherspoon, Head of Marketing, said, “This award is a testament to every single member of the passionate and committed team we have here at Matthew Algie. Every day we go to extraordinary lengths in the name of great coffee at our Glasgow Roastery (the first in the world to achieve the Carbon Neutral International Standard).”
“We would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote – your support is hugely appreciated.”
Dr Eduarda Cristovam, Director of Coffee, Quality & Sustainability, added, “We would also like to thank all our producer partners. Long-term producer relationships are paramount to who we are, and this prestigious award is also in large part thanks to their hard work.
“After a tough few years, we feel privileged to have such close-knit relationships with our producer partners and are committed to strengthening these relationships year after year.”
This accolade continues Matthew Algie’s award-winning form after recently being crowned Glasgow’s Green Champion at the Glasgow Business Awards. The Green Champion award recognised the impact our Peak & Wild range of coffees has had on our community.
Managing Director, Paul Chadderton, said, “Being recognised at such prestigious awards ceremonies is fantastic for every member of our business. It clearly reflects how committed every single one of them is to delivering best-in-class services for our wide range of customers.
“2022 has been a brilliant year for everyone associated with Matthew Algie. We have successfully launched Peak & Wild and committed ourselves to new, ambitious sustainability targets, but this is only the beginning.
“We will have more exciting announcements for you in the near future, so watch this space. For now, however, it’s time for us to get back to the business of producing our top quality, great tasting and sustainable coffee.”
