At Matthew Algie, we already offer the UK and Ireland’s widest range of commercial coffee machines, but now we’re going one step further by adding a truly iconic traditional machine to the roster… we are pleased to welcome the La Marzocco Linea Classic!
La Marzocco has a rich history and reputation for producing beautiful, perfectly crafted espresso machines. The Linea Classic is an elegant yet robust and dependable machine, just perfect for busy cafés!
To celebrate our new arrival, here are four reasons why we love La Marzocco!
1. La Marzocco has over 90 years of experience
The company was founded by brothers Giuseppe and Bruno Bambi in Florence, Italy.
Giuseppe was something of a pioneer in the espresso machine field. He started by opening a small workshop and business to design, build and perfect espresso coffee machines with his brother, Bruno, in 1927. That business eventually came to be La Marzocco – named after a seated lion and Florentine Lily which represents victory.
With 90 years of experience in espresso machine manufacture under their belts, we know we can expect only the best.
2. La Marzocco innovations set the standard for the espresso machine
By the time the 1930s rolled round, people were drinking more coffee. This meant there was a need to increase the amount of coffee a machine could produce. Ever the innovator, Giuseppe patented the first coffee machine with a horizontal boiler in 1939. This meant there was space to add more group heads, increasing the output. This horizontal boiler orientation is now an industry standard.
La Marzocco are also famous for the dual boiler; one for brewing and one for steaming. This gives the machines more thermal stability meaning the barista can produce a top-quality coffee – a win for us!
3. Coffee machines that are practical for the busy coffee shop or café
The La Marzocco Linea was born to live in a café. For a start, it looks sleek with its clean lines and simple elegance. The stainless steel portafilters and baskets mean it’s easy to clean. The high legs mean it’s easy to access beneath the machine. The Cronos keypad with digital shot timer monitors the extraction time. We could go on. It’s all there to enable baristas to make top quality coffee every time, whilst remaining practical for busy café service.
4. La Marzocco co-founded the non-profit Songwa Farm Project
Alongside other leading coffee equipment manufacturers, La Marzocco established Songwa Estates in 2007. This is a sustainable, non-profit initiative aimed at educating all those working in the coffee industry about the growing, harvesting and processing of green coffee. It also provides support to local communities who are dependent on producing coffee.
At Matthew Algie, sustainability is core to our business. We are pleased to work alongside brands such as La Marzocco who also share these values.
So, it’s easy to see why La Marzocco is one of the most celebrated coffee machine brands in the world!
